My second church was another little corrugated iron building down south, this one purpose-built at Yallunda Flat on the western edge of a Methodist circuit based at Tumby Bay. At that time Sunday services were held fortnightly at 11 am, and sometimes as many as 30 people turned up, including, with luck, someone who could play the pedal organ. The Roes always went, and the then preacher, the Rev. Stanley Forth, usually came to lunch afterwards (always a mutton roast, left to cook in the oven of a wood stove while we were at church). Afterwards Mr Forth would go on to an afternoon service up the road, and we went off to tennis or basketball practice—though this could not be mentioned since Sunday was supposed to be a day of rest.3
